Difference between vanity url and sling alias

Tanuj Gupta asked 3 years ago

Hi, i have gone through adobe docs but still not clear about what is the difference between vanity url given for a page and the alias name added to that page?

No docs available which can clearly define these two terms with difference and usage. Can anyone please let me know?

Vanity URL: This is basically an alternate path to you current page.
For example: If you have a page ” /content/a/b/c.html ” and its vanity URL is ” /content/abc.html “, then both these URL’s will point to the same page ” /content/a/b/c.html ” and browser will show ” /content/abc.html ” in the URL.

Alias: This is basically an alternate name to your current page.
For example: If you have a page ” /content/x/y/z.html ” and its alias is ” xyz “, then the page ” /content/x/y/z.html ” can also be accessed by the URL ” /content/x/y/xyz.html “
